To Enlighten All, J.B.

I first believed in the Lord Jesus at an early age. Through Sunday school, I learned some basic things about God and heard several stories from the Bible. In my teens, I would occasionally read short portions of the Bible in accordance with daily devotional booklets. The devotionals would usually apply the verses to a certain topic, but the verses themselves remained a mystery to me. Occasionally, while browsing through randomly selected portions of the Bible, I would be brought into God's presence and be filled with joy. Such instances, however, were few and far between. As a result, my Christian life was less than victorious, with little realization of Christ and of my own purpose for existence.

In college, I was introduced to the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee through some Christians I had met on campus. My initial contact with these ministries was not through my personal reading, however, but through the speaking of some of these Christians who had begun to care for me. I was shocked at the clarity, thoroughness, and weight with which they spoke concerning various portions of the Bible. I immediately realized that the Bible was being opened to me (Luke 24:32). The more the Word was opened to me, the stronger and more joyful I became in my Christian life.

I eventually began to read this ministry for myself, beginning with Witness Lee's The Economy of God. As I continued to read book after book, the word of the Bible continued to be opened to me. Now my Christian life and my human life have a direction and a goal. In my experience, the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee has served to enlighten me that I may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God (Ephesians 3:19).
